A brand is so much more than a logo. When setting out to do the difficult work of culture formation, your students, families, staff, and larger community need to understand who you are without reading your mission statement. By doing the labor-intensive creative work, a few simple words ought to embody your mission, vision and values of your ministry.
So who is HSM? We are Made for More.
What is life without meaning? We were meant to live a life of purpose, of value, a greater story than most people choose to live. Fearfully made, beautifully made. Made in His image, to be his image, influencing the landscape of society.
Meant for more, designed for more. We are made for more.
How did we arrive at this?
We closely examined our mission, the values we have established in the ministry, the purpose for every program we do, and factored in the aspirational goals we have set for ourselves.
That process produced three simple words: made for more.
I will be honest, the process took a long time. A lot of prayer. Many searches through scripture. And I didn't bring my team into the process until almost 2 months into the process. This was important to me.
As you consider your ministry, or team, or charity, who are you and where are you going? Do the people you are reaching associate with your brand identity? Do they embody your vision and values?
In later posts I will show you how I plan to outfit my volunteers, pull this theme all the way through our summer camp in August, and use it to launch our ministry in the Fall.
